Springtime

Elise and I are in agreement that this past winter was particularly long.  It was at least in the perceived length if not actual length.  Given that we are foreigners to this climate, we thought maybe after several years of such winters, that perhaps we were still not acclimated to the depressingly long, wet, grey winters.  However we have had many friends and colleagues confirm that it was in fact a long one.  Thank god that spring has finally arrived.

Not too long ago I received a message on Facebook from my old friend Carl. Any longtime readers of this website over its various incarnations across the years might remember him from my time studying at the University of Stuttgart. I had not seen the boy in the many years since then, when he posted a thread announcing that he was getting married and inviting us to join him.

Memories of the holidays

First it started with, “I can’t believe it’s almost Thanksgiving.”  Then it moved to, “I can’t believe the Christmas markets are open already.”  Next we were at, “I can’t believe it’s Christmas.”  Last night we had the obligatory, “how can 2008 be over already?”  Today it’s 2009 and I can’t understand how the holidays are already over for another year.

New (random) Pictures

And by random I mean “mostly dog” pictures.

A long while back, we had our friend Peter over who is a very good amateur photographer.  He does great work with people be they either professional models or just your average slob such as myself.  Apparently he is also good with dogs because he rather enjoyed taking shots of Heidi.  Also he caught a great candid photo of Elise.
