Snow

In the middle of winter with precious little sun, though the days are short, the cold and grey can make time seem to drag on. We were grateful this year for some beautiful snow to change the bleak days to a white wonder.

Not the Chattanooga Choo-Choo

I love trains and have written before about how I have been long fascinated by them. We kicked off a long weekend at the Cité du Train, the largest railway museum in Europe before heading to Zermatt to catch the Glacier Express to marvel at vistas of mountain peaks, alpine meadows, sapphire blue rivers and lakes, and of course glaciers.

Chienbäse

Although the Basel Fasnacht (Fasching, Carnival) is the largest carnival celebration in Switzerland and largest protestant carnival in the world, it is not the only tradition in the region. Over dinner last weekend Louisa and David invited me to join them in nearby Liestal for the tradition of the Chienbäse parade.
